Originally from Dayton, Ohio, Dr. Kevin Reese is a higher education leader, mentor, entrepreneur, and advocate dedicated to advancing student success and creating transformational opportunities for underserved communities. A proud 2007 graduate of Kentucky State University, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration before obtaining a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from North Park University in 2013. He later earned his Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from The University of Southern Mississippi.
Dr. Reese is the founder of the Vision of Excellence Scholarship Program, an initiative designed to support Black males transitioning from high school to college for the first time. Rooted in his passion for educational access, mentorship, and holistic development, the scholarship reflects his unwavering commitment to empowering young Black men to pursue lives of leadership, purpose, and impact.
Over the course of more than 17 years in higher education, Dr. Reese has served in leadership roles supporting underrepresented, first-generation, and historically marginalized student populations at both public and private institutions across the country. His professional experience spans student affairs, enrollment management, multicultural affairs, residence life and housing, student engagement, and institutional operations. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to creating inclusive environments that foster belonging, achievement, and student persistence.
His leadership and service have garnered numerous recognitions, including the “Inspiring Excellence Through Inclusion” Award from Student Affairs at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2019, selection as a member of the inaugural Kentucky State University National Alumni Association “40 Under 40” Class in 2020, and the Kentucky State University National Alumni Association President’s Award in 2020.
Dr. Reese is an active member of NASPA, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, and Prince Hall Affiliated Free & Accepted Masons. Beyond his professional work, he is deeply engaged in creative and community-centered initiatives. He is the founder of Soul II Sole Line Dance Experience, Soul Expression a Spoken Word & Arts Showcase, KevSpeaks, and The Wednesday Experience Podcast, platforms that collectively promote creativity, connection, leadership, and authentic storytelling.
Whether mentoring students, speaking to audiences, building programs, or leading organizational initiatives, Dr. Reese remains committed to inspiring others to pursue excellence while creating pathways for future generations to thrive.
